A good night’s sleep is essential for any traveller, and investing in the right bedding for your motorhome, caravan or campervan can make all the difference.

Finding the right motorhome bedding solution can be a tedious task. There are a few things to know before you pick out your sheets, blankets, and other bedding items.

Camper beds require size-specific sheets, and there are even certain bedding materials that work better than others in campers. 

Below, we’ll explore the different sizes of mattresses and bedding that are made for campers. You should focus on sheets designed specifically for campers.

What Size Is Camper Bedding?

Campervan Bedding is sized and shaped differently than regular in-home bedding. Luckily, a full-sized camper mattress is a 53×75 inch mattress, which translates to a regular full-size mattress.

However, when it comes to a twin camper mattress, your dimensions will be about 28×80 inches. This is slightly smaller than a regular twin mattress. 

Furthermore, a camper queen is actually a “short queen” size. This size is 60×75 inches, whereas a regular queen size mattress is about 60×80 inches (slightly larger overall). 

There is also a discrepancy when it comes to a king size mattress. For regular king size mattresses, the dimensions will be close to 76×80 inches. However, when it comes to camper size king, your dimensions are actually 72×75 inches or 72×70 inches. They aren’t quite as wide as regular in-home king size mattresses. 

Is Camper Bedding Different from In-Home Bedding?

Camper bedding isn’t all that different from in-home bedding. The main difference you’ll find relates to the size of the bedding. Really, you use all the same products – duvet, sheets, blankets, pillows, pillow cases, mattress protectors, etc. 

While blankets, pillows, and duvets can be of different sizes for a camper bed, you shouldn’t use regular sheets for a camper bed. They simply won’t fit right, and the sizes aren’t compatible. 

For example, a full-size sheet for a regular bed is not the same as a full-size sheet for a camper van bed. Furthermore, wool also has the dual perk of working well to keep you cool in warmer climates. Wool is a bit more on the expensive end, but it is pretty durable and should last you a long time. 

Cotton 

Cotton is another great option for camper bedding, and it’s a bit more affordable for those on a camping budget. What’s great about cotton is that it’s pretty lightweight and easy to pack. It doesn’t take up a ton of space, and you can easily throw it in a washing machine. 

Cotton is also pretty breathable as far as sheets and blankets go, so you don’t have to worry about sweating through the night in your camper.

Finally, you may consider synthetic fabrics for your bedding if you want to achieve a happy medium between what wool and cotton offer. Not only are synthetic materials durable, but they are also easy to throw in a washing machine to keep clean and are moisture-wicking most of the time.
