Finding the right camper bedding can be a tedious task. There are a few things to know before you pick out your sheets, blankets, and other bedding items. Camper beds require size-specific sheets, and there are even certain bedding materials that work better than others in campers.
Below, we’ll explore the different sizes of bedding that are made for campers. You should focus on sheets designed specifically for campers. We’ll share some of our favourite examples below. You should also focus on materials such as cotton and wool, which are ideal for the moisture and temperature environment inside of a camper.
Keep reading to learn what types of sheets and other bedding products will be ideal for your camper bedroom.
What Size Is Camper Bedding?
Camper Bedding is sized differently than regular in-home bedding. Luckily, a full-sized camper mattress is a 53×75 inch mattress, which translates to a regular full-size mattress. However, when it comes to a twin camper mattress, your dimensions will be about 28×80 inches. This is slightly smaller than a regular twin mattress.
Furthermore, a camper queen is actually a “short queen” size. This size is 60×75 inches, whereas a regular queen size mattress is about 60×80 inches (slightly larger overall).
There is also a discrepancy when it comes to a king size mattress. For regular king size mattresses, the dimensions will be close to 76×80 inches. However, when it comes to camper size king, your dimensions are actually 72×75 inches or 72×70 inches. They aren’t quite as wide as regular in-home king size mattresses.
Is Camper Bedding Different from In-Home Bedding?
Camper bedding isn’t all that different from in-home bedding. The main difference you’ll find relates to the size of the bedding. Really, you use all the same products – sheets, blankets, pillows, pillowcases, mattress protectors, etc.
While blankets, pillows, and duvets can be of different sizes for a camper bed, you shouldn’t use regular sheets for a camper bed. They simply won’t fit right, and the sizes aren’t compatible.
For example, a full-size sheet for a regular bed is not the same as a full-size sheet for a camper van bed. You should instead buy sheet sets designed specifically for different types of camper van beds. We’ll share some good options below so you can find sheets with the right proportions for a camper bed.
What Type of Bedding Is Best for Camper Vans?
When it comes to the material of your sheets and bedding in your camper, you want to pay special attention. There are a few sleeping factors you want to keep in mind so you can be as comfortable and clean as possible when you sleep in your camper.
Namely, you want to be warm enough or cool enough, depending on the weather. You also want to feel comfortable when you sleep and not suffer under scratchy or chafing fabrics. And third, you want to think about materials that are easy to clean and easy to keep clean and healthy.
First off, wool is a great choice for many camper beds. It really comes in handy when it comes to blankets, but not so much for sheets. Wool is heavier and warmer, so if you plan to camp in a cooler climate, this bedding choice will keep you insulated.
Furthermore, wool also has the dual perk of working well to keep you cool in warmer climates. Wool is a bit more on the expensive end, but it is pretty durable and should last you a long time.
Cotton is another great option for camper bedding, and it’s a bit more affordable for those on a camping budget. What’s great about cotton is that it’s pretty lightweight and easy to pack. It doesn’t take up a ton of space, and you can easily throw it in a washing machine.
Cotton is also pretty breathable as far as sheets and blankets go, so you don’t have to worry about sweating through the night in your camper.
Finally, you may consider synthetic fabrics for your bedding if you want to achieve a happy medium between what wool and cotton offer. Not only are synthetic materials durable, but they are also easy to throw in a washing machine to keep clean and are moisture-wicking most of the time.
Camper bedding needs to get washed regularly (sometimes even more than regular bedding) since it’s more common to be dirty while camping. Being outdoors brings dirt and other material into the camper and camper bed. But on top of that, being outdoors makes your camper’s interior susceptible to bacteria, so regular washing of sheets is essential.

I love everything about travel, from seeing new places, learning about new cultures and trying new foods! I believe that travel is one of the best forms of education you can get, I have learnt so much about myself and about the world from travelling all over. Travel is something I feel so passionately about, and I love the fact that we are now lucky enough to have this opportunity to do what we love as much as we can, it’s a dream come true.
Before we started travelling, I worked in local government in administration. I had been in this job for several years and had reached a complete brick wall where I was so fed up, but didn’t know what else to do. The only thing I knew that I wanted to do was to travel, and had wanted to do that for many years.
There were hundreds and hundreds of places on my wishlist that I wanted to go to, and I knew that going on a weeks holiday maybe twice a year if we were lucky wasn’t going to cut it.
After being in lockdown due to the Covid pandemic, and working from home staring at the same 4 walls every day, 2021 seemed like the perfect time for us to take the risk to finally do what we had dreamed of for so long.
It was a hard decision to completely change our lives, but so far it has been the best decision we have ever made!
